The Sugar Land Regional Airport received a $12 million dollar grant from TxDOT. This grant is believed to be the largest single grant allocated by TxDOT. The grant is to fund the Taxiway F construction. This project is an FAA mandated project to maintain proper separation between the runway and taxiway.
The grant funding of $12 million dollars will be for the completion of the taxiway to the south including all lighting, marking, new taxiway guidance designations and signage. It will also include; grading, necessary drainage improvements and the removal of the existing taxiway. The removal of the existing taxiway is necessary so that we can improve the needed drainage on the airport.
The completion of this project will enhance the safety of the airport and the airport is in compliance with FAA design standards for the type of aircraft that the airport serves.
