Sugar Land Memorial Tree & Bench Program

Memorial Tree & Bench Program

Oyster Creek Park Bridge

The Sugar Land Memorial Tree & Bench Program is a unique way to enhance the beauty and quality of Sugar Land parks for many years to come, while honoring the life of a loved one.

We offer the below donation options.

Memorial Tree Program

Planting a memorial tree provides benefits to the community and environment, while also providing a unique and significant tribute to your loved one.

Donors may choose either live oaks and cedar elms to become memorial trees, which are durable and drought-tolerant. A 30-gallon is the standard planting size, however larger trees up to 60 gallons may also be planted (costs for larger trees may vary).

Planting season for trees is from November 1 through March 1.

Donation forms for Memorial Trees will be available in October.

Memorial Tree

Memorial trees can be planted at the following parks:
Brazos River Park, City Park, Colony Bend Park, Eldridge Park, First Colony Park, Memorial Park, Park at the Levee, Pawm Springs Dog Park*, Sugar Mill Park & Sugar Lakes Park.

*Memorial trees at Pawm Springs Dog Park:
Individuals who would like to honor the memory of their beloved canine pets may have a memorial tree planted at Pawm Springs Dog Park. A centralized memorial board with nameplates is installed at the South Meadow Pavilion adjacent to the dog park, in lieu of a plaque at the foot of the memorial tree, in order to eliminate obstructions for dogs running throughout the park.
