Sugar Land, TX - The City of Sugar Land is accepting applications to serve on the Imperial Redevelopment District Board of Directors.
The five-member Board of Directors is appointed by the City Council, and the directors serve staggered four-year terms that expire on Sept. 1 of each even-numbered year.
Created by state legislation in 2005, directors have the responsibility for overseeing the overall management and operation of the district, as well as the implementation of the redevelopment agreements associated with the Imperial project and the completion of projects as outlined in the Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone #3 project plan.
Those interested should complete an online application at https://volunteer.sugarlandtx.gov by clicking on “Imperial Redevelopment District” under the “Get Involved” tab at the top of the page.
Applications are due by Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. Applicants are strongly encouraged to attend an informational meeting at City Hall, 2700 Town Center Blvd. North, on Aug. 8 at 6 p.m. They are asked to RSVP for the meeting by calling the Office of Economic Development at (281) 275-2229. If applicants are unable to attend on Aug. 8, an alternate session may be offered by appointment on Aug. 9.
Interviews with the top applicants will be conducted by a City Council task force on the evening of Aug. 18 prior to the task force making a recommendation to the City Council regarding appointments.
