Applications Available for Fall 2016 Citizens Police Academy

Sugar Land, TX - The Sugar Land Police Department is accepting applications for the 58th session of the Citizens Police Academy (CPA). Classes are scheduled from Sept. 22 through Dec. 15 on Thursday evenings from 7-10 p.m. and one Saturday from 8 a.m. to noon.

The academy offers citizens the opportunity to learn about the internal operations of the Sugar Land Police Department. Classroom instruction and hands-on learning with police officers help participants gain insight into the police department’s structure, crime scene investigation, patrol procedures, firearms training and active shooter response.

The free class is offered for people who live or work in Sugar Land, Greatwood and New Territory. Participants must be at least 18 years old, submit to a background check and commit to attend all classes. Applications will be accepted until Sept. 15.
