Police Searching for Hit-and-Run Driver

Sugar Land, TX - Sugar Land police are looking for a driver involved in a hit-and-run accident on Monday that’s left a 71-year-old man fighting for his life.

Police responded to an auto-pedestrian accident at Commonwealth Boulevard and Dynasty Place just after 9:30 a.m.

A man riding a bicycle was traveling east on Commonwealth when he was struck from behind by a grey Hyundai passenger vehicle.

The cyclist was found on the ground when police and paramedics arrived. He was treated for a leg injury and transported to a local hospital in stable condition; however, he was later sent to the Houston Medical Center in critical condition after his condition worsened.

Traffic investigators observed significant damage to the bicycle and recovered a grey side mirror that belongs to a dark gray Hyundai passenger vehicle and clear plastic debris from a headlight.

There were no witnesses when police arrived.

Anyone with information should call Sugar Land Police Officer Michael Gamble at (281) 275-2639 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at (281) 342-TIPS (8477).
