Executive Summary |

|
On Thursday January 17, 2008, three bids were opened for the Lost Creek Soccer Field Lighting Project. The apparent low bidder was Jonmar Electric with a total bid of $147,355.00. Jonmar has completed numerous projects for the City of Sugar Land. They are currently under contract for building maintenance electrical needs and are considered to be more than capable to complete this project. This project was included in the City’s CIP as a result of a request from the First Colony Soccer League. This request was in accordance with the City’s conceptual plan for the park to light the remaining three fields at Lost Creek Park, one full size field and two small fields. This will complete the lighting all existing fields at Lost Creek Park. We are also proposing to include a light to illuminate the adjacent area which currently is the BMX track. The scope of work will include installing 11 concrete poles with sports lighting fixtures to match existing fixtures in the park. The project will be coordinated with First Colony/Eclipse Soccer to minimize construction impact on their use of the park. Funding for construction is available in the CIP Lost Creek Soccer Field Lighting PK0709 with an unencumbered balance of $286,397.50. Staff recommends City Council accept the low bid and authorize a construction contract between the City and Jonmar Electric in an amount not to exceed $147,355.00. Following City Council approval, we anticipate beginning construction in late February and completion in May. |
