General Court Information
An arraignment is a formal process by which the defendant is given notice of the charges that have been filed against them, and a plea can be entered on each case. The plea will determine what further action may be taken.
If eligible, a defendant can avoid the arraignment process by paying the fine or requesting to take a driving safety course.
Defendants 16 years of age or younger must make a formal court appearance in front of a judge with a parent or legal guardian.
Arraignments are held Tuesday through Friday starting at 9 a.m. (check-in by 8:30 a.m.)
Defendants are seen in the order checked in. Payment of any fines assessed are due and expected to be paid at the time the plea is entered.
Do not enter the courtroom with any knives or weapons.
Also, purses, backpacks, etc. are not allowed in the courtroom. You may bring your checkbook, wallet, and any other pertinent paperwork (driver's license, insurance card, vehicle registration, etc.) with you in the courtroom.
Appropriate attire is required in the courtroom.
You are expected to act and dress properly and follow the rules of the court. Certain articles of clothing, such as shorts, tank tops, halter tops, caps / hats are not permitted. Failure to comply may result in your court appearance being rescheduled or in you being held in contempt of court.
