Sugar Land 101, a course first introduced in spring 2004, allows citizens to familiarize themselves with the structure, function and purpose of City government.  It better equips and encourages residents to assume leadership roles within the community. The curriculum includes presentations by City department heads and field trips to several sites suchs as the municipal airport, fire and police departments, water treatment plant, traffic operations. Members of the class also hold a Mock City Council meeting.

Enrollment is limited and diversity is sought in class makeup.  Application deadline is October 31, 2009. Participant notifications will be sent 12/4/09.

Eligible candidates must:

  •  Currently reside within Sugar Land City Limits (this does not include the Extra Territorial Jurisdiction)
