50th Commemorative Sculpture

A commemorative art sculpture has been commissioned to be installed in the main foyer of City Hall to educate and celebrate our rich history and diverse community. Well-known and respected sculptor Joe Kenney, of Austin, Texas, has been selected to create the historic bronze, art piece as a salute to our historic Texas and Imperial Sugar roots and the incredible growth and accomplishments of our 50 years as a City.
The sculpture will be six bronze relief panels approximately 19-inches high by 24-inches wide welded into a hexagon shape installed on a mahogany pedestal base, topped by the City of Sugar Land’s logo in bronze 3-feet in diameter which will be etched on top of the hexagon for viewing from above. Images on each panel will convey the history and values of the City and its remarkable growth and accomplishments over its 50 years.
Money is being raised to pay for the $30,000 sculpture which will be unveiled at a signature New Year’s Eve event to which the entire City will be invited. The 50th Anniversary Committee is asking for your help. Be a part of history and donate today! Become a Corporate or Individual Sponsor and choose between several levels of giving and recognition opportunities to help underwrite this very special commemorative work. For donations of $500 or more, your name, organization or company will be engraved on a bronze plaque located next to the sculpture, a permanent and elegant tribute to our collective history. It is a great way to become a permanent part of Sugar Land’s history.
