The Sugar Land Regional Airport Academy provides a comprehensive overview of aviation operations and the facility’s important role in the regional economy. Participants learn about the history of Sugar Land Regional Airport (SLRA), the role of the airport in the City’s organization, the scope of airport operations and the economic impact on the region and the benefits provided to Sugar Land.
SLRA is the foremost general reliever airport in the southwest Houston metro sector handling more than 7200 aircraft each month.
The application period for the Citizens’ Airport Academy is currently on hold. Please check back for future dates.
Recognizing that many of the activities included in the academy are currently not available due to COVID-19, staff is evaluating the feasibility of a 2021 class and whether or not modifications or postponement are necessary.
