[ARCHIVED] May Events Set for Sugar Land Memorial Park

Sugar Land, TX – Sugar Land Memorial Park has some sweet spring events for all to enjoy, including our furry friends.

The Doggie Yappy Hour Series will feature pet-friendly activities, music and a variety of food and beverages on Thursday evenings from 6-8 p.m. at Pawm Springs Dog Park, located inside Sugar Land Memorial Park at 15300 University Blvd. Event dates are scheduled for May 6, May 20 and June 3. Sponsors include Saint Arnold Brewing Company, Pretty Pups Grooming and Boarding, Lowe’s and H-E-B.

The city’s traditional Memorial Day Ceremony will be held at Sugar Land Memorial Park at the end of the month to commemorate service members who died in active military service. Formal tributes will be made with words of remembrance by local dignitaries. Patriotic music tributes will be performed by guest vocalists, Houston Commemorative Air Force will perform a military flyover and there will be a 21-gun salute.  The ceremony will close with a traditional flag observance led by a local Boy Scout troop at noon.

All activities are free and open to the public, with food and beverages available for purchase though onsite vendors. Free public parking will be available within the park. To maintain the safety of those attending and staff, self-screening is encouraged prior to arrival, and masks are recommended when not eating within the designated food areas and when not able to maintain the six-foot distance.
