Welcome to Serve Sugar Land! We're thrilled you're here and excited for you to start making a difference in our community. To get started, follow the steps below to complete your application process online.

How to Get Started:

  1. Create Your MyImpact Account:
    Begin by creating an account on the MyImpact volunteer website to access volunteer opportunities.
  2. Choose Your Volunteer Interests:
    Visit the volunteer website and search available opportunities from the City Departments menu on the left. We recommend signing up for General, Parks and Recreation, and Animal Services to have access to the widest range of opportunities. Keep in mind that many of the city’s events requiring volunteers are typically hosted under the Parks and Recreation department.
  3. Complete the Serve Sugar Land Volunteer Handbook:
    All volunteers must review and complete the Serve Sugar Land Volunteer Handbook in order to view available opportunities.
  4. Parental Consent (For Volunteers Under 18):
    Volunteers under the age of 18 are required to have a completed Parent/Guardian Consent Form to participate.
  5. Background Check (For Volunteers 18 and Older):
    Volunteers 18 years or older must complete a background check. After submitting your application, you will receive an email from Sterling Volunteers with instructions to complete this process.

For Animal Services Volunteers (Only)

  1. Complete Steps 1-5 above
    All volunteers need to complete steps 1-5 to volunteer with any Sugar Land volunteer opportunity.
  2. Animal Services Handbook
    If you are interested in volunteering with Animal Services, you must also complete the Animal Services Volunteer Handbook
  3. Animal Services Acknowledgments and Expectations (A&E) Form
    • New Volunteers: You will complete this step when creating your account under Animal Services in MyImpact.
    • Existing Sugar Land Volunteers: You will need to sign off on this form to continue viewing and signing up for Animal Services opportunities.
      • Log in to your MyImpact account.
      • From your home screen, tap the three lines (☰) in the top left corner (for mobile app).
      • Select “My Profile.”
      • Go to “Additional Info.”
      • Click on “Animal Services.” (select from drop down on web browser)
      • Scroll down until you see “Animal Services Expectations and Acknowledgements (A&E).”
      • Click "Sign the Document"
      • Read through the document carefully and sign off at the bottom.
      • Click “Save” at the bottom of the "Additional Info" page.

Processing Time:

The application process is not automated and can take 3-5 business days to process. You will receive a welcome email from the Serve Sugar Land Volunteer Program once your application is approved. At that time, you’ll be able to log into your MyImpact account and explore additional training opportunities, if applicable.

Once your application is fully processed, you will receive an official welcome letter with instructions on how to sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Spring Break Planting Event at Imperial Park | March 16-19 | 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Spring Break Planting Event at Imperial Park

Join us for our Spring Break Planting Series at Imperial Park as we work together to enhance the beauty and health of our community landscape.

Location: Imperial Park (234 Matlage Way, Sugar Land, TX 77478)
When: March 16–19
Shifts:

  • March 16 | 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (20 volunteers needed)
  • March 17 | 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (20 volunteers needed)
  • March 18 | 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (20 volunteers needed)
  • March 19 | 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. (20 volunteers needed)

Volunteer duties may include:
Replanting and filling existing planting beds, improving plant spacing and coverage, enhancing visual appeal and overall greenery, and supporting the long-term health of our community landscape.

Tasks will be performed outdoors. Please come prepared for outdoor work and wear closed-toe shoes and long pants/socks. Volunteers are encouraged to bring gloves, a garden trowel or spade, sunscreen, bug spray, and a reusable water bottle.

International Art and Kite Festival 2026. March 21 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Crown Festival Park

International Art and Kite Festival

Location: Crown Festival Park (18355 Southwest Fwy, Sugar Land, TX 77479)
When: Saturday, March 21
Shifts

  • 8 a.m. - Noon (25 volunteers needed)
  • Noon - 4 p.m. (25 volunteers needed)

Volunteer duties and details may include:

  • Assist with event set up and break down which could include such tasks as assembling tents, arranging seating areas, or organizing equipment.
  • Tasks will be executed outdoors, please dress weather appropriate, with closed-toe shoes.
  • Volunteers must be able to lift heavy items, stand for long periods of time, and walk long distances.

Lend a Hand Sugar Land Logo

Lend a Hand Sugar Land 

Join us for Lend a Hand, Sugar Land, a citywide day of service that brings residents together to give back through meaningful, hands-on volunteer projects. This annual event empowers individuals, families, and groups to help keep Sugar Land vibrant, welcoming, and thriving.

Location: Eldridge Park Pavilion (2511 Eldridge Road, Sugar Land, TX 77478)
When: Saturday, April 11, 2026
Schedule:

  • Kickoff of Event at 7 a.m.
  • Wrap Up Assignments by 2 p.m.
  • Return Tools and Supplies by 3 p.m.

What to Expect:
Volunteers will be assigned to service projects across the city that may include beautification efforts, light maintenance, clean-up projects, landscaping, painting, and other community improvement activities. Specific tasks will vary by assignment.This event involves outdoor volunteer work. Please dress appropriately for the weather with closed-toe shoes and clothing that can get dirty. 

Important Notes:

  • All volunteers must register in advance
  • No walk-up volunteers will be accepted on event day
  • Volunteers should arrange their own transportation to and from the kickoff location and their assigned project site(s).

Parks Clean Up Opportunities


Parks & Recreation – Park Clean Up Opportunities

Start the year by making a positive impact in your community! Parks Clean Up volunteer opportunities are a flexible, hands-on way to help keep Sugar Land’s parks clean, safe, and welcoming for all. Volunteers will help with litter pick-up throughout designated park areas, supporting the health and appearance of our shared green spaces.

This is a self-guided volunteer opportunity, allowing you to choose a time that works best for your schedule while giving back to the community and earning volunteer hours.

When: Ongoing (self-guided)
Time: Volunteer-selected 1–2 hour shifts
Location: Various Sugar Land Parks (see list below)

Important Details:

  • Volunteers may complete 1–2 hours per park
  • If volunteering more than 2 hours, please sign up for a shift at a different park
  • Volunteers must bring their own supplies (trash bags – 13 gallon or larger, gloves, grabbers/buckets if available, water, sunscreen, hats, etc.)

  • Oyster Creek Park & Trail

Public Works Front Desk Volunteers Needed

Public Works Front Desk Volunteer

Do you enjoy helping people and keeping things running smoothly? The Public Works team is looking for friendly and dependable volunteers to assist at the front desk. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys customer service and wants to be part of the daily operations that keep Sugar Land moving!

Location: Public Works Campus – 111 Gillingham Ln, Sugar Land, TX 77478

Shifts:

  • 1st Shift: 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
  • 2nd Shift: 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • 3rd Shift: noon to 2:30 p.m.
  • 4th Shift: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Days: Monday – Thursday

Volunteers sign up for shifts based on their availability. You don’t need to cover every shift—multiple volunteers share the schedule throughout the week.

Tasks: Greet and assist visitors, check in guests for meetings, sign for packages and notify staff of deliveries, answer questions about the campus, and help the Administrative Team with light clerical tasks as needed.

Requirements: Volunteers must be 18 or older. Excellent communication and customer service skills are important. A professional, friendly demeanor and dependability are key!
