Lane Closure

Update Sep 4, 2025

From Thursday (9/4) through next Friday (9/19) one inside lane of Northbound University Blvd will be closed between US-59/I-69 and Cotesworth Ave. The left turn lane to Cotesworth Ave will remain open. The contractor will be performing pavement repair at their own expense.

Please be mindful of work crews, expect traffic delays, and avoid the area when possible. Visit its.sugarlandtx.gov for current traffic conditions in Sugar Land.

About this Project

The voter-approved project will include a new southbound and northbound lane from New Territory Boulevard to just south of Lexington Boulevard and intersection improvements along the corridor. It began the week of June 10, 2024. The project is expected to be completed in 2025.

The improvements will include additional turn lane capacity at Lexington Boulevard, a double left turn at Wescott Avenue and median improvements at Branford Place and the Houston Museum of Natural Science at Sugar Land to address community concerns, improve safety and enhance the flow of traffic.
