Why are fees changing?
To ensure our recreation facilities continue to meet the high standards our community expects, the City of Sugar Land hired a professional consultant in 2025 to complete a comprehensive fee study. This study reviewed operational costs, regional comparisons, and the level of City subsidy provided to residents.
Based on those findings, the approved updated fees will be effective January 1, 2026. This is a phased implementation plan with additional adjustments scheduled over the next three years.
Putting It in Perspective
Our membership fees have remained nearly the same for over a decade.
- When centers first opened in 2011, memberships were $10 per year.
- Over that span, they have only increased to $12.75 per year.
During that time, the cost to operate, maintain, and improve our facilities has grown significantly. These new fees help us catch up to current expenses and continue offering the same high-quality programs, services, and amenities our community enjoys.
