Sugar Land, TX, December 17, 2025 – The City of Sugar Land’s Communications Department earned multiple statewide honors for excellence in video production at the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) 2025 Annual Conference November 4-6.
The City’s Video Team received awards in four categories, including:
- First Place - Parks and Recreation: “Bubba Parks”, a playful spin on the iconic Bubba shrimp scene from the film Forrest Gump, reimagined to showcase city parks. https://www.facebook.com/reel/1078795457026546 ;
- First Place - Environmental/Sustainability: “Day Without Water”, a humorous look at the national campaign that highlights just how essential water is by encouraging viewers to imagine a day without it. https://www.facebook.com/SugarLandTXgov/videos/1082300400108754 ;

- Award of Merit - Fire Department: “Whole Blood Saves Lives”, a closer look at the Sugar Land Fire Department’s innovative whole blood transfusion program, which has brought critical, life-saving care to patients at the site of their emergency. https://www.facebook.com/share/v/1BcjoxEvag/ ;
Sugar Land’s award-winning Video Team includes Senior Executive Media Producer Jake Schnitzer; Media Producers Tricia Yurcak and Habib Dacak; and AV Systems Coordinator Alex Horstman.

TATOA is a professional non-profit association dedicated to educating and training its membership in the development, regulation and administration of cable television, internal communications networks and other telecommunications systems in order to more efficiently serve the local government organization and the general public.
