Sugar Land Unveils New EV Charging Stations at Airport and Imperial Park

2025 City News Releases Posted on December 10, 2025

Sugar Land, TX, December 10, 2025 – The City of Sugar Land and OnPoint EV Solutions celebrated the commissioning of their new Super-Fast DC Fast Charging (DCFC) Electric Vehicle (EV) and Level 2 EV charging stations at the Sugar Land Regional Airport and Imperial Park with a ribbon cutting ceremony on December 9, officiated by Mayor Carol K. McCutcheon.

The Airport site features DCFC, Level 3 Chargers, the fastest public chargers available. These chargers can take most EVs from 20% to 80% in just 20 to 30 minutes, making them ideal for travelers, airport users, and drivers passing through the region. Four chargers are currently active, with four more installed and scheduled to go live in the coming weeks.

At Imperial Park, visitors will now find Level 2 chargers, which are commonly used for longer stops such as recreational activities, sports, classes, and community center visits. These chargers provide a steady, reliable charge over a couple of hours, giving residents an easy way to top off while enjoying park amenities. Six units have been installed, with the ability to expand as demand grows.

Both sites include upgraded features such as solar or traditional canopies, LED lighting, high-speed internet, security cameras, and digital kiosks offering local business information and curbside service options. The new chargers also support Sugar Land On-Demand, the city’s micro-transit service, which operates a mostly electric fleet and will receive discounted recharging at Imperial Park.

The project is a partnership between the City of Sugar Land, OnPoint EV Solutions, Influent Energy, Uptime Charger, and Argent Associates. The chargers, manufactured in the U.S. by BTC Power, use industry-standard connectors and will soon add NACS connectors for Tesla vehicles.

Assistant Director of Aviation Ken Durbin shared the city’s excitement, “We set out to provide our customers and airport visitors with the very best in EV charging, which gives more drivers access to convenient charging, while visiting the airport or participating in recreational activities at the park. Partnering with OnPoint EV Solutions helped us deliver exactly that.”

Both sites host a Digital Kiosk. EV customers will be able to reserve a charging session and link to local Sugar Land businesses to preorder services and get curb-side delivery. OnPoint EV, in collaboration with our Joint Venture partner, Argent Associates, will be testing the new UX Edge™ interactive digital kiosk to further enhance the EV Charging Experience. “The UX Edge kiosks provide engaging entertainment and informative content while vehicles are charging, including directions, nearby points of interest and local Sugar Land Business point-of-sale promotions,” stated Betty Manetta, CEO of Argent Associates.

“The partnership between OnPoint EV Solutions, Uptime Charger, and Argent is another step closer to making the energy transition more achievable. As demand grows, this is an exciting time for EVs, and collaborations like this will ensure success. Uptime Charger is proud to support OnPoint EV’s commitment to lowering the barriers consumers may face with EVs and charging stations,” says Bill Policastro, Founder of Uptime Charger.

Both stations accept all major forms of payment and are available 24 hours a day, with a guaranteed uptime.
