Class Dates: October 25 – November 15

Sugar Land 101 engages and educates residents on the operations of the city. This streamlined 4-week program includes classes focused on Sugar Land as a government entity, service provider and leaders in community development. Students will receive an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look into city operations within different departments. Classes will include tours of city facilities, presentations by city leadership and staff, interactive exercises facilitated by departments and valuable information on service opportunities with the city.

Enrollment

Enrollment is limited and diversity is sought in class makeup.

Eligible candidates must:

  • Currently reside within Sugar Land city limits 
  • Resident of Sugar Land at least one year and at least 21 years of age
  • Not currently holding or running for elected office in any city, school district, utility district, county, state or federal election
  • Willing to commit to attendance of all classes.

Program Dates

Sugar Land 101 will take place over four consecutive Saturdays:

  • Saturday, October 25 – Session 1

  • Saturday, November 1 – Session 2

  • Saturday, November 8 – Session 3

  • Saturday, November 15 – Session 4

All sessions will run from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Applications open October 6 at 9 a.m. and close October 20 at 12 p.m. (or until class capacity met)
