Continuances

  1. What is a continuance?
  2. Eligibility

A continuance changes the date of a court hearing or trial to a later date, also known as "reset". Requests must be in writing and accompanied with supporting documentation.

It is the responsibility of the defendant or the attorney to follow-up with the court to verify if the request has been approved.

Rescheduling an Initial Appearance Court Date

Requests to reschedule/reset a scheduled court proceeding must be supported by documentation and are subject to approval by the Judge. Initial appearances (court date indicated on your citation) are entitled to a one-time, two-week reset. Once processed, a notice with the new court date will be emailed or mailed to the requestor.
