Captain Jesse Huang is living the American Dream. He immigrated from Taiwan in the early 80’s as a young child with his family and believes America is the best country in the world and fortunate to call the Great State of Texas home. He earned his Bachelors of Science from the University of Houston - Downtown prior to attending the police academy there. Jesse began his career with Sugar Land in 2006 and spent 18 years in patrol for the variety and constant challenges and rewards it offered. He served as a Field Training Officer and eventually the Field Training Coordinator when he promoted to Lieutenant. Similarly, he was a member of the Oral Review Board and eventually Lieutenant over the program. Jesse was a defensive tactics instructor when Gracie Survival Tactics was implemented; a program that has reduced injuries to officers and the public. He spent a decade on the East Fort Bend Regional SWAT team and experienced leadership and growth from the professionals his served with.
Jesse is currently assigned to Professional Services where the majority of the division’s responsibilities are non-enforcement. His team doesn’t directly serve the public but they work hard to provide all the needs of every member of the Sugar Land Police Department.
