Volunteer Opportunities & Involvement Programs

The Serve Sugar Land Volunteer Program provides volunteer opportunities for The City of Sugar Land offices and events only. There is a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and involvement programs for all who wish to make an impact on our City. We suggest that you look through the list of opportunities before signing up. Please note that some positions will require training.

Citizen Involvement Programs

Involvement programs require a longer term commitment and require that specific criteria be met in order to participate.

Boards and Commissions
Citizens volunteer their time, energy, and expertise to serve as members of our boards and commissions, providing valuable insight and advice on various issues and events.

Citizens Fire Academy
Fire fighting, large-scale emergency management, medical emergencies, smoke detectors for citizens in need. You'll be right beside the SLFD personnel in this informative and exciting series of classes

Citizens Police Academy
Take an inside look at the Sugar Land Police department where participants receive hands-on instruction in crime scene investigation, patrol procedures, firearms training, and much more

Community Assistance Support Team (CAST)
An exciting program offering citizens an opportunity help SLPD make Sugar Land safer.

Community Emergency Response Team
The Sugar Land Fire Department is creating Community Emergency Response Teams (CERT) to respond to emergencies within neighborhoods

MYAC - Mayor's Youth Advisory Council
For Incoming High School Juniors. Working along side other talented young people, you'll become involved with city staff on projects beneficial to the community and advise city leadership on important issues for young people.

Police Department Teen Academy
For students ages 14-18.The Teen Academy is a program developed to engage students in a variety of topics designed to foster relationships, trust and understanding between officers and teens.

Sugar Land Leaders
As a participant in this 8-session program, you will discuss the city’s biggest priorities (and the role you play in them!), develop leadership skills with practical training, and create a cohort through fun and engaging networking opportunities.
